Three of the Blue Cypress Bluegrass musicians are playing the background BLUEGRASS music in the movie "Florida Crackers: Cattlemen and Cowboys of Florida", a documentary filmed in Fort Pierce, FL in 2008. Although the movie is now being streamed across the whole wide world, it's also still available on DVD, with a very limited quantity still available!
We are proud to have been a part of the Quail Valley Charity Cup fundraiser, participating in yhe years 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. This band's 2014 live auction package brought the "highest and most active" bid of any auction in QVCC's first 14 years! By auctioneer request, an executive decision by the Board of Directors was made to close the auction with allowing the two highest bidders to win at a price of $6,000 each! In 2016 the high bidder of their concert are the godparents of Ketch Secor, the band leader of "Old Crow Medicine Show" and co-writer of the song "Wagon Wheel", and by request, the band sang it three times at that event!
Another highlight was being invited to share the stage with many national /international, regional, and state headliner bluegrass bands at the 2016 Yeehaw Music Fest in Okeechobee, FL., then returned for the January 2017 festival also! They performed at the Sertoma Spring Bluegrass Festival in Brooksville, FL. in March 2017 which also brought a lot of national and regional bands to the stage! A great time eas had by all!
Having many highlights, these are just a few! The band is thankful for each and every performance! They express gratitude to their "bluegrass family and friends", the venues and businesses for making the band successful!
This band proudly carries the title of "Treasure Coast Most Favorite Live Band" in the 2015 TC Chronicle contest, VOTED BY THE PEOPLE! This band originated from their larger group, Heritage Bluegrass Band, also based in Vero Beach. Some of these band members introduced this style of music to the Treasure Coast over 35 years ago. Aside of Blue Cypress Bluegrass and Heritage Bluegrass Band, it's rare to hear this type of music live these days!
After years of fans requests, they recorded their first professional CD on August 6 and 7, 2016, released date August 25, 2016.
